Basic Overview of Navigator & Layers

Here I provide you an image and 10 main function that we will use in future tutorial. Its’ for introduction to Photoshop. I’m using Adobe Photoshop 7. But, if you are using Photoshop CS, it could be same. Only have some improvement or additional part.

Functions:
  1. Proxy Preview Area: This area will show you the whole area of your work. But it depends on Zoom Slider.
  2. Zoom Slider: Used to adjust the stage to focus the layers.
  3. Opacity of The Layer: This used to adjust the opacity of the layer. Usually it would be 100%.
  4. Delete Later: Where the unused layer will be stored.
  5. Create a new Layer: Click to create a new layer.
  6. Create a New Set: This used to grouping the layer based on a few sets.
  7. Layer Thumbnail: View the layer in small image.
  8. Layer Visibility: Click to invisible the layer.
  9. Stage: View the visible layer.
  10. Lock: Lock the layer from any adjustment.

Introduction to Photoshop : A Basic Overview of the Tool Bar

Here I will explain a function of a few tools that we are always used.

Move tool:
This tool is used to move any layers, graphics and else.

Magic wand tool:
This is also an image selector. This is probably the quickest tool too.

Brush tool:
The brush tool is your ultimate tool when painting/drawing in Photoshop. You can adds tons of different colors to images. Plus, there are tons of different brushes.

Paint Bucket Tool:
Fills in a certain part of an image. You can also select and image and fill it in.

Text tool:
Used to create a text on a layer

Custom Shapes tools:
Used to create shapes like rectangle, circle and also custom shapes.


Pen tool:
Used to create a nicely line. (I’ll show you later).

Eraser:
Used to clear clean any mistakes and act like eraser.

Crop tool:
Used to crop the big area to small area or vice versa.

Marquee tool (Include Rectangular and Circle):
This tool is used in order to select, cut, or copy certain parts of an image.

Blur Tool:
Like the tool says, it blurs any part of an image.
